Vishnu (ca 1969-72) — Ken DeRoche (electric guitar and vocals), John Hadden (bass guitar and vocals), Paul "Rip" Ripley (Drums), and myself (electric guitar and vocals) — was my college band while studying at Harvey Mudd College. Our breakout came when we were hired to be this year's "California band" at The Woodshed, a beer bar in Minocqua, Wisconsin, during the summer of 1970.  We slept until noon, learned to water ski, tried out for the Minocqua-Bats water ski team in altered states, made the local folks nervous, and even kind of had groupies!  And we made recordings (see below).  I like to think the recording equipment wasn't all that good ... especially on vocals.
